Welcome to Georgia Microendodontics! We’re so thrilled that you are entrusting us with your care. Here, we will highlight some important information about our practice and explain what patients can expect during their first visit.
Why Choose Us?
At Georgia Microendodontics, we want your entire experience with us to be relaxed and comfortable. We believe that patients are an integral part of the treatment planning process. That’s why we provide clear and transparent communication throughout every step.
Each member of our team is committed to delivering top-notch, compassionate care. From the very first time you walk through our door, you’ll be treated with warmth, respect, and friendliness.
Endodontists vs General Dentists
Your general dentist is the doctor you see on a routine basis for exams, cleanings, restorative, and cosmetic care. An endodontist is a specialist who has completed additional education and training in their field.
Most general dentists refer out to an endodontic specialist when necessary, so their patients can receive the comprehensive care they deserve. Endodontists routinely perform root canal treatments and other endodontic procedures. Because they have specialized training, endodontists provide efficient, accurate care.
At Georgia Microendodontics, our doctors offer sedation to help calm your nerves and alleviate anxiety. Patients can choose between nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation:
- Nitrous oxide: Also called “laughing gas”, nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small nosepiece. The effects are felt within minutes. Patients are still aware of their surroundings but are much more relaxed and carefree. Following treatment, your doctor administers an oxygen flush to eliminate the sedative from your system. Patients who choose nitrous oxide can drive themselves to and from our office.
- Oral conscious sedation: This sedative is administered in pill form approximately one hour prior to your endodontic procedure. The medication induces relaxation and drowsiness. While many individuals sleep through the procedure, they are still able to communicate with their doctor when necessary. Patients who choose this type of sedation will need to be driven to and from our office by a responsible friend or family member.
Our Advanced Technology
Our endodontists use the latest, most advanced technology for accurate treatment. At our Marietta, GA practice, we use microscopes, fiber optics, ultrasonic instrumentation, and more so that our patients can receive the highest level of care possible.
Georgia Microendodontics is one of the few practices in the state to use the GentleWave® Procedure. This method is a less-invasive alternative to traditional root canal therapy that results in a more comfortable recovery.
Before Your First Appointment
To prepare for your first visit, you will want to gather a few necessary items for check-in. This includes your driver’s license, dental and medical history, and any images or records provided by your general dentist. You should also bring a list of any current medications, supplements, and vitamins. To save time, you can also fill out our digital forms online prior to your appointment.
Your First Visit
During your initial consultation, your doctor will assess the affected tooth, confirm the diagnosis, and discuss all possible treatment options with you. X-rays and scans are also taken to determine the extent of the problem. Our radiographs will be compared to any that were sent by your general dentist to see if the issue has progressed over time.
In some cases, treatment can be completed the same day as the consultation. However, complex conditions may need to be treated during a second appointment.
